Creating Inclusive Spaces

It is of the utmost importance to us that our taprooms are inclusive, safe places for every person. We have included a brief list of things we are doing to mindfully make our spaces feel more welcoming. It is always a work in progress and more work will continue to be done by us and the craft beer community, as a whole, to make craft beer a welcoming place for all people.

Things WE’re Doing

When we opened our first bottle shop in 2014, we decided that Katy would be our first full-time employee and the face of the company. At the time, women made up a very small portion of the craft beer market and industry, and we knew having a constant female presence in our shop would make it a more welcoming, safe place for many. As part of her efforts to get more women involved in craft beer, Katy ran an educational women’s beer club for three years out of the bottle shop.

One of the most important things we can do to foster inclusivity in our taprooms is to make sure everyone who walks through our door can get a beverage they’ll enjoy from someone who genuinely wants them to be happy with their choice, without judgment. Not only do we purposefully offer a wide variety of beer styles and price points, but we also carry a variety of cider, wine, mead, seltzer, and an extensive list of non-alcoholic options to choose from at both of our taprooms. We won’t judge you if you don’t buy a beer. Our goal is to create a community, whether we all have a beer in our hand or not.

We want people to see themselves represented and catered to through the events we host. We showcase a wide variety of music artists from various genres at both taprooms. If you or someone you know would like to perform or be part of any event at the Jug, please contact us. We are currently trying to broaden our music base beyond the standard singer-songwriter into more experimental or underrepresented genres.

We highly value having a diverse staff. If you’re interested in working with us, please check out our Jobs Page!

Every member of our team participates in inclusivity training, including our leadership team.

If you or someone you know have an isolating experience at the Jug, we want to know, and we want to help. Please email katy@glass-jug.com.
