Our brewery of the month for December is going to be the new kids on the block, Haw River Farmhouse Ales. They just opened up in Saxapahaw (between Chapel Hill and Greensboro), and are already cranking out some delicious brews. To ring in the holiday month, we decided that we needed to really do something special, so what better way than to revive the Festivus celebration!?!
We'll ring in Festivus while gathered around the Festivus pole, airing our grievances, and possibly even competing in feats of strength, but mainly, we'll be enjoying some tasty beverages from Haw River Ales. We'll be tapping one of very few kegs of their Christmas Ale - a barrel aged spiced Belgian quad, Saxy Machismo, and the Haw River crew will be on site with some samples to share.
To help spread the love, we're also going to spend the month of November collecting toy donations for Toys for Tots, the charity organization put together by the US Marine Corps to help make sure that every child in our community gets a present on Christmas. And if if the warm fuzzy feeling of doing something good wasn't enough to get you to bring in a few toys, with each toy you donate, you will be given one entry into the ultimate beer swag raffle.
What is the ultimate beer swag raffle, you ask?
This is a raffle for one giant box of truly awesome beer swag. A lot of our local breweries, and some of the regional and national craft breweries, are going to be donating some of their best swag to help sweeten the deal. We're keeping our lips sealed about exactly what is in the box for now...but we might leak a few items as we get closer to the end of November.
To donate a toy, bring in a new, unopened, and unwrapped tow for our donation box, and we'll give you one raffle ticket in exchange. Whoever holds the winning raffle ticket will walk home with the entire box of swag. It's gonna be awesome.
The winner will be drawn at our Festivus celebration in early December, so make sure to bring your ticket when you come to hang out with The Glass Jug and Haw River Farmhouse Ales as we ring in the holiday season a help make life a little better for some deserving kids.
