Seven years ago, The Glass Jug (not yet a “beer lab”) opened our doors in the unassuming Greenwood Commons shopping center in Research Triangle Park.
The next seven years have seen our move to a larger space in the same center, the addition of an expansive outdoor beer garden where we host live music, trivia, and comedy shows regularly, and the addition of our on-site brewery that produces some of the most highly-rated beers in the Triangle.
If that wasn’t enough to celebrate, The Jug has also opened a second taproom on Foster Street in downtown Durham earlier this year, and began brewing additional beer at a facility located in Rocky Mount, NC.
We absolutely could not have done it without the tremendous effort of all of our staff (past and present) and the amazing support of our local community, which has embraced us as your neighborhood brewery, taproom, bottle shop, and gathering place.
On Saturday, September 18, we’ll be celebrating the 7-year mark by hosting our annual Oktoberfest-themed party in the beer garden at our RTP location.
Of course, we will be serving up our Festbier, brewed primarily with German grown barley that was malted locally at Epiphany Craft Malt in Durham. Additionally, a limited number of commemorative 0.5L 7th-Anniversary mugs will be available for purchase! $15 will get you a mug and your first fill. Then, bring it back for 20oz pours for the 16oz price all day long (we’ll give you a new, sanitized glass each time).
Bull City Street Food will be parked in the beer garden for the festivities, serving a special Oktoberfest-themed menu starting at noon. Come hungry, because you will want to eat everything on the menu!
German music will be provided by the Raleigh Little OomPah Band, starting at 3pm. Then, Peak City Band will take the stage at 6pm to perform their unique mix of classic rock and blues.
Games will include corn hole, disc golf, and a stein-hoisting competition at 6 PM! There will be a bounce house where kids are welcome to play.
And, because we want to be good stewards of our community, we want to remind everyone to please adhere to all posted COVID safety requirements and follow instructions from our staff so that we can all have a fun and safe day.
Masks are required to be worn indoors. Masks are optional in the outdoor beer garden.
Hand sanitizer will be available at several stations
Our staff is fully vaccinated
Consider bringing your own lawn chairs/seats to spread out in the grassy area
