Heating Up RTP With New Fire Pits

As the weather starts to cool down this fall, we are excited to debut another upgrade we’ve made to our beer garden at the RTP/South Durham location this year - fire pits!

Craft beer sitting by an outdoor fire pit

Our business typically sags in the cooler months, as a majority of our seating - and a big draw to our space - is in the sprawling outdoor beer garden. Once the sun sets on the chilly fall and winter evenings, it can start to get uncomfortable to be sitting outside, and our indoor seating is somewhat limited.

We’ve tried in the past to mitigate this by installing tabletop and floor-standing propane heaters. And they worked alright. But, they don’t create a ton of heat, they burn through a lot of propane, and the ignition mechanisms are tricky and often fail after only 1-2 years of use, causing for a lot of cost tied up in replacing and maintaining them.

So we decided to get rid of the propane heaters.

Instead, we partnered with SoloStove to source some amazing Glass Jug branded fire pits to station throughout the beer garden, as well as several tabletop fire pits with heat deflectors that can be used as a fun heat source right on your picnic table.

Brewery with small table-top wood burning fire pit

There are some added costs that come with real fires. But, we think the experience of gathering with a craft beer around a fire makes it worthwhile.

We have sourced and bundled hardwood firewood that can be purchased, along with a fire starter, for only $8. Each bundle guarantees well over an hour of burn time. And, additional bundles can be purchased at a discounted rate.

You can even upgrade your fire pit experience by purchasing a s’mores kit to toast your own s’mores (each kit contains supplies for 4 s’mores for only $6), or buy one of our fun color-change packets for just $2 to toss into your fire for 20+ minutes of green, blue, and purple flames.

Fire pits and tabletop fire pits are available on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the fall and winter, so bring your friends and family, cozy up around a fire pit in our new comfy Adirondack-style chairs, and enjoy a beverage in the beer garden this fall!
